Breaking Down the Paris Fashion Week Menswear Schedule

It’s always Fashion Week somewhere. From shows in the streets of NYC (check out Attico SS24) to dazzling presentations tucked into the rich cityscapes of London and Milan, it seems like the term “fashion week” is more a blanket to the world’s love for highlighting the industry than just one single event. But keeping track of it all is no small task: memorizing and breaking down terms like RTW, SS, Resort, FW, Haute Couture, and more, placing tabs on shows, digging for scraps of exclusive schedules, and keeping up with the news is less of a hobby and more a skill. This is why we’re here to break down the next big Fashion Week for you.

What is PFW Menswear?

PFW (Paris Fashion Week) actually occurs several times a year- four, to be exact- boasting two editions of Womenswear (Spring/Summer in September and Fall/Winter in late February into early March) and two editions of Menswear (Fall/Winter in January and Spring/Summer in June). Shows can range from the industry-favorite runway format to presentations in what we like to compare to a museum walkthrough or red-carpet-esque format, depending on the designer’s vision for the collection. This upcoming PFW Menswear (Jan 16-24, 2024) has a solid combination of both formats, featuring over 70 designers. Needless to say, we’re beyond excited to see what’s in store.

Our Most Anticipated Shows

This year, PFW Menswear will open with Burk Akyol on January 16th at 4:30pm (16:30) and closes with GMBH at 7:00pm (19:00) on January 21st. In the hours between, The Citizen’s Poste is most excited for a select few, starting with Acne Studios’ invitation-only presentation at 11:00am on the 17th. Their last PFW Men’s collection was eclectic, to say the least, and overwhelmed us with color and texture in contrast to what would soon be 2023’s favorite style: quiet luxury. While few things are more exciting than seeing designers pave the way into new eras of fashion and style, Acne Studios has always kept us on our toes in going against the grain.

And, of course, we all have our fingers crossed for a stunning collection from Isabel Marant on the 18th at 3:00pm (15:00). What we’ve taken upon ourselves to deem one of 2023’s most impressive designers in the streetwear scene, Isabel Marant has created a space in which the gap between luxury and practicality is hardly noticeable. Over the past few months, their collections have had a massive appeal to style enthusiasts looking to bring the runway to their wardrobe- a hankering that will only increase in 2024- and we wouldn’t be surprised to see Isabel Marant Menswear FW24 set the tone.

You may have recently heard that 2024 will be the year of the eclectic grandpa, an emerging style niche that can only be attributed to Kenzo. Their last Fall Menswear collection can be described- in the best way possible- as frazzled English woman meets East Coast anchorite with a flair for the dramatic. Who wouldn’t be obsessed? And while we’re always dying to see designers branch out and try something new, we’re secretly hoping Kenzo continues to pay tribute to their current look in Paris on January 19th at 8:30pm (20:30).

Of course, we could go on forever- or at least as far as this year goes. But it’s also worth noting that while tens of both well-established and emerging designers are sure to stun us, there are a few names missing from this year’s PFW Menswear schedule. Saint Laurent, Ludovic De Saint Sarnin, 1017 Alyx 9SM, and Moschino didn’t grace the agenda, to many enthusiasts’ surprise. However, that’s not to say they won’t appear in February’s collections, so there’s no need to sweat. As 2024 prepares to sweep us off our feet, we can only take so much in one go anyway (or at least that’s what we’ll tell you… secretly, we just can’t get enough).
